Flo Health launches in-app perimenopause support
72% of perimenopausal women saying their symptoms are limiting their life experiences
Flo Health, the world’s most downloaded women’s health app, has launched a new feature aimed at supporting women through perimenopause.
The tool, Flo for Perimenopause, offers personalised guidance, symptom tracking and medically verified educational content to help users better understand and manage the often bewildering array of symptoms that accompany hormonal shifts in the lead-up to menopause. The content is developed in collaboration with over 100 medical experts and marks another strategic move by Flo to tackle health literacy gaps in underserved areas of women’s health.
The launch follows a period of rapid growth for the company. Flo cemented its status as a femtech unicorn in 2024, following a $200m Series C funding round that placed it among the best-capitalised digital health platforms globally. The company says its app has now been downloaded by more than 420 million users worldwide.
More than half of women don’t feel informed
More than a billion women globally will have experienced perimenopause or menopause by the end of this year, yet a recent Flo survey found that 54% of women don't feel adequately informed about the symptoms and potential health effects of perimenopause.
The implications are significant: 72% of perimenopausal women surveyed said their symptoms limited key aspects of their lives, from self-esteem to relationships.
Flo is not the first to target this space. Berlin-based Clue, another prominent player in the digital health space, introduced a perimenopause mode in 2023, signalling growing awareness in femtech that this long-neglected life stage is overdue for innovation and investment.
Flo’s approach includes a featured called the Perimenopause Score — a science-backed digital assessment tool developed to evaluate and contextualise symptoms. It allows users to track irregular cycles, identify trends in symptoms like hot flushes, fatigue and mood changes, and access a curated content library that offers daily, expert-led insights.
Flo’s science team, whose recent research published in npj Women’s Health found that perimenopausal symptoms often begin earlier than previously assumed, say the tool is part of a broader effort to redefine expectations around ageing and hormonal health.
"A tool like Flo for Perimenopause could be truly transformative for the many women I see who arrive confused, overwhelmed, and unaware of what their bodies are going through—simply because no one ever taught them what to expect," said Dr Sameena Rahman, a board-certified OB/GYN and menopause specialist.
Anonymous chat mode
Users will also be able to connect with others through Secret Chats, an anonymous in-app forum, designed to provide peer support and reduce the isolation many report during this life phase.
To mark the launch, Flo has partnered with Tony Award-winning actress and comedian Laura Benanti, who addresses her own experience with perimenopause in her solo show, Laura Benanti: Nobody Cares.
"I was really blindsided by what was happening to me when I started experiencing perimenopause," said Benanti.
"And I'm grateful Flo is now offering women a resource to help combat that unsure feeling… If we can't laugh about the 'menopause appetizer' that absolutely none of us ordered, what can we laugh about?"
Flo for Perimenopause will be available to all users from 21 July 2025. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

So great to see more attention in health and femtech going towards perimenopause and menopause! V much needed - thanks so much for the article!
