Flo Health launches pleasure education program
Follows research which revealed more than half of women are not fully satisfied with quality of orgasms
Flo Health, the world’s leading women’s health app, has launched ‘Unlock your orgasm’, a new program focused on supporting sexual self-care.
Developed by leading sex therapist, Casey Tanner of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), the program will help users build their personal roadmap for reaching climax.
Users will also be able to grow their self-confidence, define their own sexual needs, and learn to communicate their preferences to a partner.
A component of overall wellbeing
Flo Health aligns with the World Health Organisation in their acknowledgment that positive sexual health is fundamental to a woman's overall well-being.
Despite advancements in reproductive health, many women still lack access to comprehensive information and support for sexual satisfaction.
A recent Flo survey of 1,500 UK women aged 18-55 reinforces this: a quarter of women are dissatisfied with their sex lives.
Flo's Unlock Your Orgasm program aims to bridge the crucial gap in traditional sexual education by empowering women to explore their sexuality and experience the pleasure they deserve without shame. The program offers a comprehensive five-step journey featuring engaging videos, shame-free self-discovery exercises, and fun take-home activities to spark sexual exploration.
Flo research into female pleasure
According to Flo’s recent survey, five key areas of difficulty and frustration in women's sex lives have been further revealed:
Orgasms
The majority (60%) can't say they are fully satisfied with the quality of their orgasms, while 66% can't say they are fully satisfied with the frequency.
1 in 5 (21%) women say that having orgasm difficulties is the reason for not being satisfied with their sex life.
Shame and stigma
1 in 10 (11%) women find sex shameful, while 10% attribute dissatisfaction with their sex lives to feelings of shame (e.g., feeling wrong or bad about sexual acts or desires).
62% can’t say they are fully comfortable with how their vulva looks.
When asked what aspect of their sex life they would like to improve the most, 42% said they want to be more comfortable with their own body.
Libido
Nearly a third (32%) say they are not satisfied with their sex life because of their libido.
Over half (53%) of women want to learn more about what turns them on.
Communication
1 in 5 (21%) women say their dissatisfaction with their sex life is due to difficulties in communicating with their partner about what they each desire from sex.
Just over a third (37%) can say their partner knows what turns them on, while nearly half (49%) admit they'd love for their partner to learn more about what turns them on.
Self-pleasure
7 in 10 (72%) women say they enjoy masturbation and self-pleasure, and yet 18% never set time aside for it.
Casey Tanner, Flo Medical Expert, Certified Sex Therapist, and collaborator on Unlock Your Orgasm, said:
“Unlock Your Orgasm isn’t the standard sex ed course that leaves you feeling awkward or gives you a couple of condoms and sends you on your way. This program represents a paradigm shift in sexual education. By offering personalised support and resources, we take a look at the tools that have been used previously to measure a ‘good sex life’ and replace them with personalised ways of attuning to your sexuality. We're empowering women worldwide to prioritize their sexual wellness and experience fulfillment on their own terms."
Annie O’Leary, Director of Content & Creative at Flo Health, added:
“At Flo, we understand how important sexual satisfaction is to our overall well-being. We also understand that sexual pleasure is a deeply personal concept that results from a myriad of mental and physical, even hormonal, factors.
“The program was created in recognition of all of those things and aims to help people better understand their pleasure challenges and identify holistic solutions. What might their body need that their mind hasn't yet recognised? How might those needs change throughout their cycle?
“Flo’s Unlock your Orgasm program is uniquely positioned to help people take control of their pleasure to achieve the satisfaction we all deserve.”
