Hemi Health raises €4M to take structured migraine and concussion care beyond Denmark
Nearly 80% of Hemi's patients are women
Women make up nearly 80% of Hemi Health’s current patient base — a reminder that neurological pain conditions such as migraine disproportionately shape women’s daily lives, work capacity and long-term health trajectories.
Now the Danish digital health company is preparing to scale. Hemi Health has raised €4 million in a Seed round led by Denmark’s Export and Investment Fund (EIFO) and Swiss Health Ventures, with continued backing from Sondo Capital, Alliance Venture Capital and Crowberry Capital.
The funding follows strong traction in Denmark, where Hemi has supported more than 1,000 people with migraine, headache and concussion through its structured, multidisciplinary care model. Originally focused on migraine and headache, the company expanded into concussion care earlier than planned as demand exceeded expectations.
“We are extremely proud to welcome EIFO and SHV on board. They are both super strong investors with deep expertise in healthcare and health-tech,” said CEO and co-founder Benedicte Grytte Dahl.
Complex pain and fragmented pathways
Migraine and post-concussion symptoms are often long-term, disabling and difficult to treat. Care typically spans multiple clinicians — neurologists, physiotherapists, psychologists — yet coordination is inconsistent. For many patients, particularly women, this results in prolonged, trial-and-error journeys.
“Living with migraine myself, I know how exhausting complex care pathways can be,” said co-founder Anna Løfqvist.
“Across neurological conditions, people often face the same challenge. Navigating care without clarity or continuity. We built Hemi to meet people where they are and provide the structure, coordination and measurable progress that allows them to move forward and return to everyday life.”
The model and scale plan
Hemi Health describes itself as a digital-first specialty care provider for complex chronic (neuroplastic) pain. Its proprietary platform supports structured diagnostics, individualised treatment plans, continuous monitoring and coordinated delivery.
A significant portion of the new capital will go toward strengthening that platform.
“The possibilities AI gives us in complex care are substantial,” said CTO and co-founder Mathias Buch Iversen.
“Used correctly, it can transform fragmented, multi-year care journeys into structured programmes with clear progression and measurable outcomes.”
International expansion begins with the Netherlands, a market Hemi sees as aligned with insurance-driven, outcome-oriented care pathways. Danish operations will continue to scale in parallel.
“Migraine and post-concussion symptoms are complex and disabling conditions that demands coordinated clinical expertise. Hemi Health’s technology does exactly that, and the team’s proven track record gives us strong confidence in their potential. They are building a future care model that tackles root causes rather than just symptoms, and at EIFO we are excited to support their work in redefining both migraine and concussion care,” says Claudia Maria Colciago from EIFO.
While migraine is often sidelined in mainstream healthcare conversations, it is one of the leading causes of disability among women of working age. Hemi’s patient demographics highlight how women’s health extends well beyond reproductive care — into chronic pain, neurology and long-term functional recovery.
