HerMD returns with new virtual-only care model
Follows unexpected shutdown of brick-and-mortar clinics in March 2025
Women’s health company HerMD has announced the relaunch of its virtual care services, following the unexpected shutdown of its brick-and-mortar clinics earlier this year.
In March, the US-based company notified patients via email that all in-person clinics would be closing due to “ongoing challenges in healthcare.” Founded in 2015 by Dr. Somi Javaid, HerMD opened its first location in Cincinnati and went on to raise an oversubscribed $18 million Series A round in 2023, bringing total funding to nearly $30 million. While operating physical locations, HerMD offered a range of services including gynecology, sexual health, perimenopause and menopause care, weight management, and medical aesthetics.
HerMD plans to launch its virtual care platform in Spring 2025, with a waitlist currently open.
In a statement published online and also via email HerMD said:
“This next chapter begins during a time of significant transition for our team and community, as HerMD evolves its care model to continue fulfilling our mission.
“While HerMD’s physical locations have closed due to the challenges facing today’s healthcare system, our commitment to transform the healthcare experience for women by making evidence-based care accessible and ensuring patients have the time to be truly heard remains firmly intact.
HerMD’s Virtual Care model will offer extended visits, personalized treatment plans, and ongoing support from specialists with expertise in women’s health.
Continuing the statement, HerMD wrote:
“We are deeply grateful to the patients, providers, and team members who have supported HerMD over the years and throughout this transition. Virtual Care allows us to keep moving forward—guided by the same purpose that has shaped HerMD from the beginning: to provide expert care that is rooted in evidence and understanding.”
