June Health launches in Canada to tackle the midlife women's health gap at work
A new Canadian startup is aiming to reshape how employers support women’s health. June Health, a virtual care platform focused on perimenopause and midlife health, officially launched this week with a mission to address what it calls a “silent productivity and retention crisis” in the workforce.
Built specifically for women over 40 — the fastest-growing demographic in the workplace — June Health provides an end-to-end healthcare service that spans clinical support, mental health care, pharmacy access, benefits navigation, and vetted wellness products, all delivered via a digital platform. Unlike generic telehealth solutions, June’s model is designed to reflect the complexity of midlife health, offering specialist-led, multidisciplinary care.
“Untreated perimenopause is a silent productivity and retention crisis that hits companies where it hurts – in absenteeism, burnout, and talent attrition,” said Lori Casselman, founder and CEO of June Health.
“The unfortunate reality is that timely access to expert midlife care is out of reach for many women, and employers have a tremendous opportunity to be part of the solution.”
Ready-to-deploy workplace benefit
The platform is being offered directly to employers, insurers, and provider networks as a ready-to-deploy workplace benefit. With perimenopause potentially lasting up to a decade and linked to more than 40 symptoms — from cognitive fog to sleep disruption — the clinical and economic impact is vast. Canada’s economy loses an estimated $3.5 billion annually due to unaddressed menopause symptoms, according to industry estimates.
Dr. Romy Nitsch, Medical Director at June Health and a practicing OB-GYN, emphasized that the current health system often misclassifies midlife symptoms as minor or lifestyle-related.
“It’s time we stopped treating this as a lifestyle issue and started addressing it as the complex medical phase it truly is,” she said.
“Our team delivers evidence-based care that reflects the whole woman – her biology, her stress load, and her full healthcare needs.”
June’s digital ecosystem includes features such as intelligent triage, access to certified women’s health experts, care coordinators to navigate coverage and referrals, and a curated pharmacy and supplement marketplace. It also offers an AI assistant, “Ask June.”
The platform is now available to employers and health plans across Canada.
