Movano Health relaunches female-focused Evie smart ring
Key upgrades are promised including improved tracking and insights
Movano Health has announced the immediate relaunch and availability of its Evie Ring - the first smart ring designed specifically for women.
First announced in 2022 and then fully unveiled at CES back in 2023, the Evie Ring was long anticipated ahead of its original launch early in 2024. Despite securing $1million in advance sales in its Black Friday pre-order sales alone, it was quickly and temporarily discontinued after negative customer feedback and lukewarm expert reviews.
Now the device is back - featuring its ‘open’ design that accommodates fluctuations in finger size as well as an updated app to give users the ability to track and understand key metrics vital to their health and wellness.
For its part, Movano admits in its new press release that the relaunch follows ‘a hiatus to address initial customer feedback and supply chain challenges.’
So what’s new with Evie this time?
The relaunched Evie ring now promises deeper personalised health insights through improved AI-based pattern recognition. And the upgrade augments a trend analysis feature which is says ‘sets Evie apart from every other wearable on the market’
Instead of simply reporting health data in daily or weekly graphs, Evie's custom insights engine identifies patterns over time, including correlations between menstrual cycle, heart health, sleep, mood and energy as well as progress toward user-defined goals. Findings such as inconsistent sleep schedules, an increase in restless nights, cycle insights and changes in heart rate variability are shared in the app's Notifications feature, eliminating the need for wearers to analyse weeks or months of data on their own. These insights also explain possible causes, impacts and solutions, helping users understand how they are feeling and, in some cases, suggesting they make adjustments or seek medical advice.
Evie uses a similar big-picture strategy in its unique Daily Summary data display, which dynamically shows the user's progress toward daily steps, active minutes, calorie burn, sleep and mood goals in a single graphic rather than in individual activity and performance scores used by other wearables. This approach enables users to easily track all goals in real time and provides an easy-to-understand snapshot of each day's activity and recovery, avoiding the time and effort required to review multiple data sources.
Other upgrades include improved accuracy of sleep data and improved measurement of heart rate during activity.
Looking ahead for the Evie smart ring
Movano Health has also announced it is working on an auto activity detection which allows users to accepted an activity that has been automatically detected by the app (such as walking, biking, running or a general workout).
It is also working on an Android version of the Evie app for November.
Of note, it is also working on a ‘My Health Report’ which can summarise key metrics and trends and can be sent to a doctor at the user’s request to help users facilitate conversations with their provider and make the most informed decisions about their health.
Movano Health also continues to progress medical device status with FDA approval.
