Smart earring start-up Incora Health secures investment from XRC Ventures
Described as a ‘wearable for fertility and wellness management’, the team at Incora Health will use this funding to complete clinical trials and bring the product to market later this year.
Healthtech start-up Incora Health has secured investment to take forward its first-in-market innovative smart earrings - with a launch now planned for later in 2024.
Described as a ‘wearable for fertility and wellness management’, the team at Incora Health will use funding to complete clinical trials and bring the product to market.
The undisclosed funding came from XRC Ventures and adds to $1m previously achieved in family, friends and angel round.
An almost decade-long project
Incora was formed in 2022 by co-founders Theresa Gevaert and Dr Lindsey Calcutt.
Lindsey told FutureFemHealth:
“My co-founder, Theresa Gevaert, had the idea around 2015 to invent a more convenient way to accurately track basal body temperature for fertility management.
“Theresa and I formed Incora in 2022. Since 2022, we have been working on Incora full-time (the majority of this time in stealth) focused on product development, customer research and clinical trials.
Later this year Incora will complete clinical trials and release a limited quantity to the public in the USA.
Lindsay continued:
“Our mission is to transform women's health by providing effortless solutions for holistic and personalised wellness management.
“Our learning within the past two years has expanded our offering from only fertility tracking to women's health.”
The Incora smart earring’s ‘major moat’
The smart earring is designed to be both a piece of jewellry and a women’s wearable. It will support cycle tracking, fertility tracking, stress management, activity level tracking and sleep. The earrings are paired with an app which uses generative AI to understand each user’s menstrual cycle and make predictions about fertility after a couple of months of use.
As an alternative to a smart watch or smart ring, the primary advantage of developing a smart earring is the proximity to the body’s core.
XRC Ventures Founder & Managing Director, Pano Anthos said:
"Rings or arm bands are not as accurate for in-depth cycle tracking, because they're on the outer appendages of the body.
Incora Health discovered that you can gather more precise insights via the ear lobe, where there's a steadier bloodstream and heart beat proximity. This is more accurate for measuring basal body temperature.
Founder & CEO Dr. Lindsey Calcutt patented this technology. It will create a major moat for Incora Health as the most accurate option on the market once it launches, and moreover, address women's health in a much more comprehensive way."
