Sunrise's sleep clinic Dreem Health launches dedicated women's health program
To address link between hormonal imbalances and sleep disorders
Digital sleep clinic Dreem Health, managed by the Sunrise Group, has today announced the launch of a dedicated women’s health program.
Through this program, Dreem Health will tailor support to women experiencing sleep issues due to pregnancy, PCOS, perimenopause, menopause, and PMS. The comprehensive approach will diagnose and treat sleep disorders that are linked to these hormone imbalances.
Sleep disorders are known to disproportionately affect women. Nearly 1 in 5 women in the U.S. suffer from diagnosed sleep apnea, and that number only increases when accounting for the 80 percent of women who remain undiagnosed. Hormonal imbalances play a significant role in the development of sleep-disordered breathing (SBD), which encompasses conditions like obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) - proven to double in women after menopause.
Sunrise and Dreem Health have identified this disparity in care and have created an end-to-end solution to close this gap in women’s health. Consisting of technology, a digital care model, and a dedicated care team, the Sunrise Group plan is designed to address these shortcomings in healthcare. Dreem Health’s licensed providers will now evaluate the female members symptoms, diagnose their conditions using the Sunrise at-home sleep test device, and create a personalized treatment plan or refer them to a partner for further care.
“As a company that is set to innovate the global sleep health market by ensuring disorders are adequately recognized, diagnosed, and treated, it was important for us to take a step back and identify who will best benefit from our care,” said Laurent Martinot, Founder and CEO of Sunrise.
“The relationship between a woman's hormones and her sleeping patterns have long been overlooked, even though the research is there. Through this targeted offering, we are underscoring our commitment to advancing sleep health, and now women’s health, by bringing much needed attention to a women’s health journey which often begins with sleep.”
43 percent of Dreem Health’s patient population is currently made up of women. By creating a program geared towards this population, The Sunrise Group is addressing this long-overlooked area of healthcare with a tailored solution, helping women struggling with hormonal imbalances diagnose and treat their underlying sleep disorders.
The launch of the program comes on the heels of Sunrise’s acquisition of Dreem Health's management in 2024, solidifying Sunrise Group as a global leader in sleep care. Dreem Health’s digital clinic is now accessible for patients in 35 states, with nationwide availability expected in the second half of 2025.
