Uresta launches in the U.S. with $3m investment, offering a non-invasive solution for bladder leaks
Originally established in Canada and already used by over 30,000 women
A Canadian startup which helps women manage stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is expanding to launch in the United States following a $3m funding boost.
Uresta, an insertable support device to prevent bladder leaks, provides a reusable, non-invasive alternative to traditional absorbent products and surgical interventions. Already well established in Canada, where over 30,000 women have used the device, the company is now expanding stateside with the support of a $3 million raise, including $1.5 million from BDC Capital.
“Bringing Uresta to the U.S. is about more than just launching a product – it’s about offering women a real solution for bladder leaks,” said Lauren Barker, CEO and co-founder of Uresta.
Suffering in silence
Stress urinary incontinence affects one in three women, triggering bladder leaks during physical activity, sneezing, laughing, or coughing. Despite its prevalence, many women either suffer in silence or rely on costly, ineffective absorbent products. Uresta provides a clinically proven alternative that directly supports the bladder to prevent leaks, rather than merely absorbing them.
Clinical studies have demonstrated Uresta’s effectiveness: 97 percent of users report a reduction in leaks, 90 percent continue using the product after 12 months, and 94 percent would recommend it to a friend.
“Many women assume bladder leaks are just a normal part of aging or childbirth, but that’s simply not true,” said Caroline Packard, PT, DPT.
“Uresta is a game-changer, providing an easy-to-use, clinically proven option that allows women to get back to the activities they love without fear of leaks.”
Uresta has been clinically tested and cited in numerous global medical journals. The device is recommended by pelvic floor physiotherapists and physicians across North America and is now available for purchase in the U.S. via the company’s website.
“For too long, bladder leaks have controlled the lives of women,” Barker added. “Women have been told to tolerate it with absorbent products. Uresta is a simple, non-invasive solution that stops leaks and puts women back in control.”
