WellTheory secures $5 million to launch AI-led autoimmune care platform
WellTheory will scale autoimmune care nationwide
WellTheory, the San Francisco-based care platform focused on autoimmune disease, has raised $5 million in new funding to extend its AI-powered care infrastructure having recently completed the rollout of its proprietary AI tools, Care Hub and Care Scribe across its care operations.
The round drew fresh backing from Samsung Ventures, Opal Ventures, and Up2 Fund, with continued support from existing investors Accel, OVO Fund, and Box Group.
Female-focused disease
With autoimmune conditions affecting an estimated 50 million Americans - most of them women - WellTheory is betting that a mix of intelligent systems and whole-person care can make a measurable dent in both outcomes and costs. Its latest AI tools, “Care Hub” and “Care Scribe,” which are both now fully-deployed, streamline everything from provider workflows to personalised treatment planning.
“AI is no longer a nice-to-have in care delivery — it’s essential infrastructure,” said Ellen Rudolph, CEO and Co-founder of WellTheory.
“This new round of funding is allowing us to double down on our AI strategy, streamline the most time-consuming parts of care, and expand into new markets. We’re leading the charge in making whole-person, root-cause care more accessible, personalized, and effective — and bringing it to scale through our growing partnerships with employers and health plans.”
The platform’s AI assistant, Care Scribe, supports the clinical team by transcribing sessions and drafting customised care plans, slashing documentation and preparation time by more than 70%.
Care Hub, meanwhile, serves as a digital command centre - aggregating lab results, session notes, and member history in a single interface, complete with tailored workflows and automated compliance tracking.
“Care delivery for folks with autoimmune disease is incredibly complex - our team built these tools to help give our Care Team time back for what matters most: supporting our members,” said Claire Rudolph, Co-Founder and Head of Product at WellTheory.
“With WellTheory’s Care Hub and Care Scribe, we’re building the modern infrastructure autoimmune care has always needed — intelligent, integrated systems that streamline repetitive tasks, amplify what makes care human, and equip our team to deliver more personalized, responsive support at scale.”
With the Care Hub and Care Scribe now fully deployed, WellTheory is focused on what comes next: leveraging its growing ecosystem of data — including session transcripts, lab results, symptom tracking, lifestyle inputs, and provider insights — to build a next-generation intelligence layer across the member journey.
Future product investments include deeper automation in areas like lab workflows and scheduling, expanded analytics and care optimization tools for providers, and a reimagined member-facing experience grounded in personalization, guidance, and long-term engagement.
WellTheory has previously raised $7 million in funding. It recently also released its first outcomes report since launching its virtual autoimmune care model, showing meaningful improvements in both clinical outcomes and cost savings:
$9,389 saved per patient on biologic medications
$5,181 in average total healthcare savings per autoimmune patient
69% reduction in work disruptions due to symptoms
81% improvement in digestive issues, and significant reductions in anxiety (60%) and depression (61%)
Last year, WellTheory also launched its enterprise solution and has seen early traction among partners like Maven Clinic. The company has grown its revenue 225.5% YoY (March 2025 vs. March 2024) by saving employers over $10K in average savings per autoimmune patient.
